A HISTORIC PLACE
AT THE DOORS OF BIARRITZ AND BAYONNE
The Château de Larraldia was built in the 17th century, and incorporates elements of Louis XIV architecture.
It consists of the castle of Larraldia and of the Manor of the Holy Spirit, a large orangery, set within remarkable gardens.
Positioned on the heights of the Nive, in the town of Villefranque, Larraldia enjoys a unique view of the Basque Country, the cathedral of Bayonne, the Pyrenees and the Rhune.
The Estate was acquired in 1822 by Louis Miguel d'Arcangues and thus entered the family of Sylvie de Berne Lagarde, the current owner.
The Marquis de Lagarde descends indeed on one side of the d'Arcangues (castle of Arcangues), the Labat (former Mayor of Bayonne) and the Séréville (castle from Herauritz in Ustaritz), and on the other side of Cadaran (St Jean de Luz and Miotz castle). By the Cadarans, the family descends in direct line with Louis XIV.
The Château de Larraldia is thus one of the great residences of historic families in the Basque Country and France.
The castle was sold in 1926 and opened a parenthesis of almost a century.
He is transformed into a luxury hotel where, taking advantage of its absolute calm and the protection of the gardens, celebrities such as the Duke of Windsor, Régine, Johnny Hallyday or Romy Schneider meet out of sight.
A film is shot there: The Banker.
Larraldia was then unfortunately abandoned and left without maintenance for years.
The parenthesis closes in 2019 when, during a walk, Sylvie and Bertrand rediscover this castle abandoned and concealed by lush vegetation. They are touched by its condition and have the ambition to restore it to its former glory.
The restoration of the castle is a family project but the objective is also to revive it as part of the Basque heritage.

The renovation is carried out by local craftsmen whose ancestral know-how and passion for this jewel guarantee the quality of the work, the respect of the historical style and the attention paid to the smallest details. Everyone puts a bit of their soul into it.
All are happy to participate in this renaissance.
Wanting to benefit the community, Larraldia will also be open for cultural or educational activities, and can be privatized, selectively, for exceptional events.
The creation of remarkable gardens is at the heart of the project. The 17-hectare park with its majestic trees typical of the Basque Country, oaks, beeches, magnolias, includes in its heart four pleasure gardens in four different styles: French, English, Japanese and Italian.
YOUR EXCEPTIONAL MOMENT
The Domaine is an exceptional place, a family home. This is the spirit of the project.
You can make it yours, for events that are close to your heart, and thus live as if it were your family domain.
Top-of-the-range equipment (bedding, furniture, audio) was chosen by the family. The equipment selected is that which equips the palaces.
Marriage
A 300m2 room, several lounges, a 250m2 terrace (coverable if necessary), an ultra-modern professional kitchen designed for a caterer, access to the gardens will allow you to organize an unforgettable wedding for several hundred guests.
Accommodation in the two castles (18 suites) will give the bride and groom and their loved ones a feeling of comfort and serenity.
The caterer can be chosen by the bride and groom or proposed by the Château according to your choice.
You and your guests can live in your castle for three days (or more on request).
Seminar
The material means will allow the success of your seminars: the 300m2 room of the orangery is supplemented by two meeting rooms (60m2 and 30m2) and several lounges. They are equipped with high quality audio and video resources.
Immersion in nature will help put participants in the best conditions.
The high-end catering will be carried out by a caterer who will be offered to you.
The sports facilities (22 meter swimming pool, tennis court, pediment, gym) will allow you to stay in shape.
A convivial bar will facilitate the creation of personal links.
18 very comfortable rooms will accommodate your employees or customers.
Seasonal rental
One or both castles (7 bedrooms and 11 bedrooms), the gardens, the orangery and the sports facilities (22 meter swimming pool, tennis court, pediment, gym) can be rented for personal use, for a minimum of one week.
On request, you can live like a castellan, without any worries: the catering can be provided by a caterer or a cook, as well as daily maintenance and the concierge.
You will be able to live with your family and friends in your castle.
Room rental
The large room of 300m2 is equipped with high quality audio visual means which makes possible the organization of conferences, concerts, sales, exhibitions, public meetings.
Access to the gardens, the terrace, the other meeting rooms as well as the lounges, the ease of parking, the professional kitchen will be additional assets to the success of your projects.
Discovery of the Basque Country
You will be offered activities to explore the Basque Country (sports with surfing, rugby, Basque pelota, mountain hikes ; cultural with the Guggenheim or Bonnat museums, culinary or the discovery of Basque culture) or beyond with the visit of Bordeaux vineyards for example.

THE DOMAIN
The Main Castle of Larraldia
From the Louis XIV period, its Bidache stone facades are pure elegance. The interior decoration takes up the history of the region and that of the family.
The castle offers 7 suites and rooms on the first floor.
Each has been decorated by choosing a theme: the Maharaja bridal suite, the Brazilian forest, the Greek philosophers, Paris, and North Africa.
The ground floor houses the grand Venetian entrance, a large living room, a sumptuous reception gallery, a library, a billiard room tracing the history of the site, a dining room and the kitchen.
The floors take up the stone spirit of Bidache and the crests recall the history of the family of the region.
Bathed in light, the castle enjoys a view of the Rhune and the Pyrenees, of Bayonne Cathedral and in the foreground to the south of the Domaine's pond.
The Holy Spirit
In the same style as the Château de Larraldia, this Louis XIV Manor offers 11 individually decorated suites including a room accessible to people with reduced mobility.
On the ground floor, two living rooms with a cozy bar and a dining room open up to the gardens. Everything is completed by a professional kitchen. This kitchen has been designed, both in its plan and in the equipment present, to offer optimal conditions for your caterer.
It can also be used as a large family kitchen.
The castle overlooks the gardens and enjoys a view of the Pyrenees and the Rhune. The view from the bridal chamber is exceptional.
It is connected to the Orangery
The Orangery
Covering an area of 300m2, it is bathed in light thanks to its five majestic bay windows.
The high quality materials make it an exceptional place for your events.
Audiovisual equipment allows the room to be used in different ways: dinner, dance, exhibitions, conferences, sales, etc.
The orangery opens onto a refined garden and a large terrace. This terrace can be covered in case of bad weather.
The proximity of the professional kitchen will allow caterers to have the best conditions for a successful service.
The gardens
The center of the Estate consists of a "Walled Garden", which includes four gardens:
The French garden is the place for formal receptions. The large English-style flowerbeds bring a touch of romance
The Rose Garden makes the transition to the outside world thanks to its belvedere which overlooks the majestic oaks and in the distance on the Rhune
The Japanese garden is concealed behind a large pergola and allows to relax in complete privacy
The Italian garden, with its thousand-year-old olive trees, surrounds the swimming pool and invites carelessness and the pleasure of living.

Tennis and its pediment
The large swimming pool is 22 meters long and 8 meters wide. It will allow you to swim without constraint. From its edge you will overhang the Domain, the gardens, the castles and you will admire the Pyrenees and the Rhune.
The pool house also houses a gym.
It is extended by a solarium.
The refurbished tennis will offer you a perfect surface for your game. The presence of a pediment will be an opportunity to discover Basque pelota.
The sheepfold
Below the castle, in a wooded setting, the old sheepfold has been renovated to become an artist's studio.
It is equipped with painting, ceramic firing and sculpture equipment.
It allows artists in residence to indulge their passion in an idyllic setting.
